Diamond league Doha and Qatar Sport Club

The Doha Grand Prix, first held in 1997, quickly established itself as one of the world’s leading track and field meetings. After progressing through Grand Prix and Super Grand Prix status, Doha became the opening event of the newly launched Diamond League in 2010 and remains a key fixture on the international athletics calendar today.

The meeting takes place at Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium (Qatar SC Stadium) in Doha, a 15,000-seat multi-purpose venue that serves as the home of Qatar Sports Club. Located in the Dafna district, the stadium has a rich sporting history, hosting not only top-level athletics events but also major football competitions, including matches during the 2011 AFC Asian Cup and the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships.

With its compact design, excellent spectator views, and reputation for producing world-class performances, the stadium provides an ideal setting for the Wanda Diamond League season opener, attracting many of the world’s best athletes each year.
