The Legacy of Bislett Stadium
Few athletics venues in the world have a history as rich as Bislett Stadium in Oslo, Norway. Since the first stadium opened in 1922, Bislett has become one of the most iconic arenas in track and field, renowned for its fast track, enthusiastic crowds, and remarkable performances.
Bislett has hosted numerous international championships and has been the home of the annual Bislett Games, one of the most prestigious meetings on the Diamond League circuit. Over the decades, athletes from around the world have gathered here to compete in front of passionate Norwegian fans.
The stadium earned a legendary reputation during the 1970s and 1980s, when an extraordinary number of world records were set on its track. At one point, more than 60 athletics world records had been established at Bislett, making it one of the most successful record-producing venues in the history of the sport.
